Abstract

This study investigates the AC loss characteristics of a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) armature coil in a dual-rotor axial flux motor under realistic electromagnetic conditions. The dual-rotor configuration effectively reduces the perpendicular magnetic field component (Bx) acting on the wide surface of the HTS conductors, significantly lowering both magnetization and total AC losses during operation. The results show that magnetization loss dominates at low transport current amplitudes, while at higher amplitudes, transport loss becomes the main contributor, resulting in a more gradual variation of total AC loss.
