Abstract

Key Practitioner Messages - Disabled children are at increased risk of harm and abuse, yet disability among children is under-recorded in Scotland's children's social work statistics. - This data improvement project has developed and tested a set of disability indicators and definitions that support practitioners to identify and record disability - Using the indicators, 37% of children subject to a joint investigative interview were recorded as disabled. Social interaction, mental health, learning difficulty and speech, language and communication were the conditions recorded most.
