Abstract

Good Lives and Decent Societies (GLADS) was a knowledge exchange event series exploring the concept of wellbeing and its relevance for policy and practice. It was funded by the Scottish Universities Insight Institute (SUII) as part of its 2014 Wellbeing Programme. GLADS was designed to stimulate multi-disciplinary conversations between academics, policy makers and practitioners and develop cross-sectoral perspectives on wellbeing, in the context of current debates on societal progress and alternatives to GDP. It aimed to increase understanding, facilitate knowledge sharing, and generate new insights about how to integrate considerations about societal wellbeing into decision-making and action.
