Abstract
This paper presents a micro-motion (m-m) technique for extracting the time histories of velocity from single pass Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images, enabling remote vibration-based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). The technique uses the m-m principle to capture the motion of vibrating reflective targets. The methodology is applied to SAR data of a suspension bridge, and the extracted velocities are compared to synchronous in-situ measurements from an installed monitoring system. Experimental validation demonstrates that single-pass SAR can measure vibration-related information of bridges down to velocities of 0.001 m/s.
