Abstract

This briefing from CELCIS helps to explain Part 9 of the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 (the Act). The briefing sets out the rights of looked after children, care leavers and carers, and the duties, powers and expectations placed on corporate parents. This briefing is designed to support organisations and practitioners involved in implementing the provisions of the Act. In this way we hope to fully realise the potential of this legislation to significantly improve care experiences for children and young people. Please note that statutory guidance on this Part of the Act was published by the Scottish Government in August 2015.
