Abstract
The Act and a range of associated Rules and Regulations came into force on 24 June 2013. The Act in detail can be accessed at www.legislation.gov.uk/asp/2011/1/contents and more detailed materials for practitioners can be accessed at www.clanchildlaw.org The aim of the legislation is to modernise and strengthen the children's hearings to ensure better outcomes for children and young people. In particular, the new law will: bolster effective participation of children and young people and their parents/carers; improve consistency; and strengthen the implementation of the orders made by hearings.
