Recently, an all optical demultiplexer especially applicable to optical time division multiplexed (OTDM) systems has been demonstrated, as well as its operation in a laboratory OTDM system with an aggregate bandwidth of 50 Gbit/s. This device, a terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD), is a simple contact all optical demultiplexer. Here, reported is the dependence of a TOAD operated at a bandwidths of up to 100 Gbit/s, on the key control variables which determine its performance. Also presented are data demonstrating demultiplexing from a 100 Gbit/s pulse train.
