Abstract
The design process is complex and dynamic due in part to the volume of handled data and models, the number of exchanges between the different design teams and businesses interacting during the. The design teams, organized in Concurrent Engineering (CE) don’t wait to get the result of the later phases of the design life cycle; they anticipate them by making assumptions and by taking into consideration their experiences and know how. In that framework, quality approaches for the control of product performance, and collaborative engineering tools to support CE and collective decision making are required. In order to support decision making in early design and product’s performances management, this paper proposes a metric. It will enable to measure maturity in order to take into account the impact of lack of knowledge in decision making during preliminary collaborative design.
