Examines the different legal approaches regarding control of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis in England and France. Discusses the role of the State in safeguarding public health in each jurisdiction, looking at the historical background in both. Compares the effectiveness of the control of tuberculosis in England and France. Argues for reform of outdated public health law in England.
