Abstract

For the detection of a spread spectrum signal in wireless communications, the traditional RAKE receiver is a popular and effective method of utilising the diversity offered by a multi-path communication channel. The more recent MMSE receiver is useful for suppression of multiple access interference and noise, as well as exploiting multipath components within the span of the filter. In this paper we introduce a structure which employs adaptive despreading on each finger of the RAKE receiver.
