Abstract

Which therapies produce the best outcomes? Are directive practices more effective than non-directive ones? What is the relative contribution of the therapist and the client to the outcomes of therapy? There are increasing demands for counsellors and psychotherapists to answer questions such as these and to base their practice on a comprehensive body of research knowledge.
