Abstract

Treating a toluene solution of mixed potassium-magnesium tris(hexamethyldisilazide) with ferrocene yields a surprising complex exhibiting simultaneous arene and metallocene -coordination of K+, which when prepared in situ initiates the polymerization of MMA to give syndio-rich PMMA.
