This special issue of Reactive and Functional Polymers was commissioned to honour the life and works of Professor David C. Sherrington FRS, and to recognize the numerous seminal contributions which he has made to the field of polymer chemistry over the course of his long and illustrious career. A broad range of polymer chemistry subjects is presented in this special issue, which is a reflection of Dave’s own diverse research interests in polymer and materials science. Many of the contributions are from long-term friends and collaborators.
