Abstract
Like Hippisley-Cox and Coupland,1 our retrospective study using yellow card data submitted to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MRHA) from 2002 to 2006 found that lipid lowering drugs are often reported in association with drug induced renal toxicity. They came third after recognised nephrotoxins such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and drugs acting on the renin-angiotensin system and ahead of loop diuretics, potassium sparing diuretics, and aldosterone antagonists.
