Children, young people and their families depend on their primary care medical team for most planned and unscheduled care. On average one in four consultations in primary care concerns children. A preschool child is likely to come in contact with the primary care team six times a year and a school age child three times a year. This chapter focuses on the management of childhood obesity in primary care.
