Small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises (SMEs) are challenged with the task of producing customized products in a timely and cost-effective manner. Winning competitive advantage is an imperative strategy for SMEs to compete with large sized organizations. The purpose of this research is to establish a Web oriented system to help SMEs to gain a competitive position with particular focus on the issues of product life cycle, supplier selection and product design specification. This is achieved by integrating three models, including Customer-Manufacturer-Competitor Orientation Analysis, Strategy-Position based Supplier Selection, and Component Based Partial Product Design Specification, into the system with the support of Web techniques including Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), JSP, Java Servlet, Java application, etc.
