Abstract
This review is of the book 'Panthéon de la Guerre: Reconfiguring a panorama of the Great War' by Marc Levitch. Levitch's study of the panoramic painting Panthe´on de la Guerre (once described as the 'world's largest painting') aims to provide a biography of this work over the last century and to show how the status, reception and composition of Panthe´on reflects evolutions in the commemorative strategies of the First World War in France and America.
