Abstract
A new form of fuzzy model-based controller is introduced. The new controller is based on a conventional predictive controller design, but utilises a fuzzy relational model. The controller is described and compared with existing fuzzy controllers. Practical advice is given on generating suitable relational models for control purposes and an appropriate identification algorithm is recommended. The controller is tested on a liquid level process and its performance compared to another fuzzy model-based controller which has been previously reported.
